AMD or Advanced Micro Devices has been in a long battle with Intel for the micro processor market in desktops. Now they are trying to make a stand on the laptop CPU front. AMD’s CEO Dirk Meyer says that the company notices the huge potential of netbooks have for the company. AMD is currently working on chips for laptops that will enhance battery life and AMD will also be incorporating their already successful graphics technology as well.
AMD isn’t forgetting the Tablet market either they are in the process of improving their Bobcat chip micro architecture, which was previously intended for ultra thin laptops so they can work in tablets too. The only thing that we hope is that AMD can still provide basement bargain pricing like they do with their desktop processors. These new laptop and tablet chips aren’t going to be unveiled just yet but at least we all know they are working on them.
