We previously reported of Intel’s desire to release dual core Atom processors, well now we have uncovered some information that Asus will be unveiling a dual-core Intel Atom based Eee PC netbook. This new netbook will be codenamed Asus Eee PC 1215N and it will not only come with a dual-core Atom processor but it will also get added performance from Nvidia ION graphics. The Eee PC 1215N doesn’t have a set unveiling date but we probably wouldn’t be wrong to assume it would get unveiled at the upcoming Computex 2010 conference, where Asus will be unveiling the Eee Pad tablet.

The dual-core chip that will be inside the Asus Eee PC 1215N will be named the Atom N500 Series CPU. Due to there being no information as to the performance capabilities of the N500 chips we can’t for sure say whether it’s double the speed of a regular Atom processor or if it’s just a less noticeable improvement.

Some other rumored specifications of the Eee PC 1215N includes 1GB or 2GB of RAM, 160GB or 320GB HDD storage, an Intel GMA 3150 IGP and the NVIDIA NG-ION graphics processing unit(Yes this netbook will have Nvidia’s Optimus graphics switching capabilities) and Windows 7. The Eee PC 1215N is being predicted at this time to have price tag over 400 Euro(about $ 535.32).
