Four New Sandy Bridge Powered Sony VAIO Laptop Models Surface, Details

Sony VAIO SA and SB Series 01At the recent CES event Sony had on display a few different concept products two of which were to reference models for two new series laptops they were going to be launching in future. The Sony VAIO SA and SB were/are the names for the two models. While on display Sony reps. hinted that the two laptops when released would be there to take the place of the current highest-end VAIO the Z Series. The new SA Series is going to to be the direct replacement for the Z Series –and be the most expensive– and offer the highest end specifications, while the SB Series will be the more moderately spec’d Z Series replacement that keeps the same general case design as the SA –but is cheaper–.

Something interesting that Sony showed while at CES was the SA Series extended battery docking station, the docking station not only offers the SA with some more juice but Sony has managed to make it rather thin. You will have to check out this quasi demo video captured (docking station comes at almost the end of the video) of the VAIO SA and SB at the Sony CES both below courtesy of Sony Insider.

That info is kind of old, today however brings the discovery of four new VAIO models –two for the SA Series and two for the SB Series–. The notebooks were spotted on some Euro retail sites by posters at notebookreview forums. The specifications for all four discovered laptop models are available below along with a gallery of images showing the reference models Sony had on display at CES.

No release dates available yet but production has probably been delayed on these models due to the flaw that was found in the new Sandy Bridge chips.

Sony is missing a high end 15” VAIO, like the Dell precision or HP Elitebook
