ASUS isn’t slowing down a bit when it comes to launching laptops with the latest Intel Sandy Bridge processors inside. The latest laptops from the Taiwanese computer maker are two 15.6-inch models, ASUS N53SV-SX387V and ASUS N53SN-SZ127V.
If you are familiar with the N53 Series of laptops from ASUS and you know the look know that ASUS hasn’t changed it a bit with these two models, all the major overhauls were done internally with these models. As such the usual 15.6-inch 1366×768 LED back-lit display commonly found on the entertainment class N53 usually is included with both of these new models.
Between the two models you will have to choose either dual-core performance or quad-core performance, remember that battery life on the quad-core option is going to be quite a bit lower due to power consumption of the chip but system performance will be quicker.
The dual-core option aka the ASUS N53SV-SX387V mainly offers you a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor (Intel Turbo Boost bumps the clock speed to 2.9 GHz), a Nvidia GeForce GT 540M discrete graphics card, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB 5400RPM HDD, a 4x Blu-ray combo-drive.
As for the quad-core option aka the ASUS N53SN-SZ127V main offerings for it include a 2.0 GHz Intel Core i7-2630QM processor (Intel Turbo Boost moves the clock speed to 2.9 GHz), an Nvidia GeForce GT 550M discrete GPU, 6GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB 7200RPM HDD and a 4x Blu-ray combo drive.
The same 6-cell battery with 5200 mAh of power is included with both notebooks and that’s not all. Also tied in with either model is Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3-in-1 card reader, a webcam, Bang & Olufsen ICEpower audio, USB 3.0 and HDMI connectors and of course Microsoft’s famed Windows 7 operating system.
As of now ASUS has only made these two models available in Europe and plans for a US release aren’t official yet. However if you are in Europe you should keep your eye out for each of the models detailed and for your info ASUS the MSRP at €949 (N53SV-SX387V) and €1.299 (N53SV-SZ127V) for the notebooks.
