Apple hasn’t released a black colored laptop in what seems like a really long time, but actually their last black laptop the polycarbonate Macbook went out of production in 2008. From 2008 up until now Apple has stuck mostly with silver anodized aluminum laptops but a new report is claiming new black colored laptops are on the way.
After receiving multiple tips MacRumors ran a story today about a black anodized aluminum Apple Macbook Air being on the way with the 2011 hardware refresh. The new color options will be for a ‘top-end MacBook Air model,” just like the original black Macbook’s were offered for more money than their white counterparts.
The release of refreshed Macbook Air’s is something that many have been calling for for some months now, but most have been talking about new CPU’s and the addition of a Thunderbolt port. This is the first I’ve heard of a black colored Macbook Air being on the table for the refresh.
Apple will be able to set everyone straight soon, they are expected to release refreshed Macbook Air models next month with Mac OS X Lion. The new version of Mac OS X will become available in July on the Mac App Store for $29.99.
