Lenovo shows their styling chops on two new thin laptops, IdeaPad U300 and U400

Lenovo has set out to prove they know how to make stylish laptops at IFA 2011, the Lenovo IdeaPad U300, U300s and U400 laptops act as proof. When you look at the three models, the U300 and U400 pictured below, you can see Lenovo has done a good job with styling.

Lenovo IdeaPad U300 and U400Now to be true the designs for the U300 and U400 do feature some resemblances to the Apple Macbook Pro family of unibody aluminum laptops, as some have noted, but Lenovo also added a bit of their own style (some parts of the Lenovo IdeaPad S205) in the laptops. The two feature what Lenovo describes as minimalist designs with ‘one-piece aluminum shell’ construction (that’s how Apple describes their Macbook Pro’s, coincidentally).

–We’ve already discussed the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s in a earlier post from today, this post is going to focus on the U300 and U400 specifically.–

The Lenovo IdeaPad U300 boasts a 13.3-inch screen and the Lenovo IdeaPad U400 has a 14.0-inch screen, as their model names already implied. Lenovo will be start pricing for the U300 at $799 and the U400 at $849, the two will go on sale in November of this year.

The specification charts for the U300 and U400 are very nice but they don’t tell the full story about the two notebooks, there are features that aren’t noted. For instance the U300 and U400 will be shipping with keyboards that double as air vents for each notebook, moving the vents that normally occupy the bottom of Lenovo laptops causing discomfort when lap-top computing. Also the palm rest and touchpad feature materials that repeal heat.

When you look at the U300 and U400 you will note the few amount of air vents, Lenovo did that on purpose. By doing such Lenovo needed to work hard at thermal dynamics to keep their aluminum laptops from causing discomfort for users, according to them they did all of that.

Looking past the cooling tech the U300 and U400 laptops will boast even more cool features. The two laptops will come with BIOS-embeded anti-theft protection that help you track-down your laptop if it’s ever stolen or lost. Another thin the U300 and U400 have the option for RapidDrive SSD technology that helps the two laptops boot-up in just 16 seconds (according to Lenovo) using an SSD as a boot-drive and using factory configured software optimizations inside Windows.

For sub-$1000 the 0.7-inch Lenovo IdeaPad U300 and U400 should be pretty popular laptops in November when they go on sale. Below you can check out the specification lists and image galleries for the U300 and U400.
