Apple updates the internal hardware for their popular Macbook Pro laptops

Predicted two weeks ago, when supply was running low on Apple’s Macbook Pro laptops and new model strings were spotted, today’s refresh shouldn’t come as much of a surprise if you follow Apple product news. The entire size range (13-, 15-, and 17-inch) of Macbook Pro’s has been updated in some form or fashion.

The 13-inch has been given two new and faster Intel dual-core Sandy Bridge processors with a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 and 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 (the 2.4GHz Core i5 is the new base CPU replacing the 2.3GHz Core i5 that’s gone now). Also today the 13-inch Macbook Pro also gained the option for 500GB or 750GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drives (500GB is the new base over the now gone 320GB 5400-rpm hard drive).
For the 15-inch Macbook Pros the folks at Apple has added a new 2.4GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core processing chip as the maximum that you can configure with the 15-inch Macbook Pro, the 2.4GHz quad-core chip is the same processor that Apple has been, and is still continuing to, offer in the base 17-inch Macbook Pro. Also for the 15-inch Macbook Pro the option now exists for you to configure in the AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory in your 2.4GHz 15-inch Macbook Pro configuration.
Lastly the 17-inch Macbook Pro has been updated to make the AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory the standard discrete GPU solution for the notebook, previously the 17-inch model came with the AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics processor that also featured 1GB of GDDR5 memory as the only discrete GPU solution for the 17-inch Macbook Pro.
Pricing has, surprising not changed for the line of Macbook Pros. The two base configs. for the 13-inch model are still $1,199.00 and $1,499.00; the 15-inch models are still $1,799.00 and $2,199.00; the 17-inch model is still $2,499.00 for the base model.
