Had your eye on the Lenovo ThinkPad X130e this holiday season? Well you’re going to need to wait until February 2012 to get one if your just a lowly individual. According to Lenovo, who gave comment to Engadget, all the current stock of Lenovo ThinkPad X130e ultra-portable laptops have been spoken for by various school districts.
If you remember back earlier this month when Lenovo unveiled the new ThinkPad laptop the company said the 11.6-inch X130e was designed for the education sector and students. Lenovo was supposed to begin taking orders for the new ThinkPad X130e today. The laptop is listed with a starting MSRP of $469 for individual orders.
Main features for the Lenovo ThinkPad X130e:
- Windows 7 OS
- 11.6-inch LED backlit LCD
- CPU options - 1.3 GHz AMD Fusion E-300 APU (dual-core); 1.65 GHz AMD Fusion E-450 APU (dual-core); 1.4 GHz Intel Core i3-2367M ULV

- 120GB SSD optional and it includes under 20 second boot-up times with Lenovo’s RapidBoot technology.

- Ethernet LAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0
- 6-cell Lithium-ion battery; up to 8.5 hours of battery life
- Weight – 3.93 lbs (1.78kg) with 6-cell battery
Durability features
- A top cover rubber bumper to absorb impacts to the side of the laptop
- 33 percent stronger corner to reduce the chance of damage when dropped at an angle
- Stronger hinges to outlast even the most frequent PC user at up to 30,000 cycles
- Reinforced and recessed ports to decrease the effects of student “wear and tear”
- Stronger Bezel with 1.2mm thick plastic to protect the LED panel
The delay is sad, one would hope a PC vendor the size of Lenovo would have made enough Lenovo ThinkPad X130e’s for most everyone but they didn’t. All individuals interested in purchasing the X130e will have to endure what no consumer wishes to, wait.
