Not to long from now the big Consumer Electronics Show for 2012 will be kicking off in Las Vegas, Nevada. At this years CES show there will be a lot of focus on thin and light laptops, netbooks and of course tablets when it comes to computing. For netbooks I can already see Intel’s new Cedar Trail Atom processors making a big showing at CES 2012. However this morning new reports indicate that we should also brace ourselves for the class of ASUS netbooks called Eee PC Flare.

Apparently Asustek Computer Inc., makers of ASUS brand products, is getting rid of the long running Eee PC Seashell line of netbooks. Asustek has been shipping Seashell netbooks since 2009, and to be truthful the companies netbook line-up is in desperate need of a re-design.

The new design focuses mainly on making everything about the Eee PC netbook more streamlined and smooth, the corners are rounded off and the whole netbook just looks more premiumly built.

In a quote posted by Notebook Italia somebody at Asustek supposedly explained the Flare design like this,

“Flare is an Eee PC Eee PC revolution in the world. The concept is inspired by the idea of fashion and mobility of the modern urban lifestyle. A design more personal, more trendy and more pragmatic. Curves and rounded profiles obtained through new technologies aluminum extrusion. Maximum flexibility of use thanks to a wide range of ports I / O evenly distributed between the right and the left side of the Eee PC Flare.”

What kind of specifications can you expect from the Flare netbooks? According to Notebook Italia the new ASUS Eee PC Flare netbooks will come with a mix of Intel Atom Cedar Trail and AMD Fusion APU chips. The AMD Fusion APU is confirmed, reportedly, for a 12.1″ Flare netbook.

Model names have also been leaked, in addition to everything mentioned thus far. Notebook Italia has it on good information that Asustek will introduce Flare netbooks for model ranges named 1025C, 1025CE, 1225B (Asustek already detailed the 11.6″ Eee PC 1225B netbook in late December of 2011, it features the AMD E-450 APU), and 1225C.

CES 2012 will be an exciting show not only for netbooks but PCs in general. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the show to start on January 10, 2012.
