MSI will launch a new 17.3″ gaming laptop with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M soon

Coming to CES 2012 is a brand spanking new 17.3″ MSI gaming notebook, that’s right another one. MSI went all out in 2011 with their gaming notebook business by releasing multiple models and for 2012 the company isn’t showing any signs of toning anything down. Earlier today MSI announced they would bring the MSI GT763 to Las Vegas for CES 2012 and just yesterday they also announced the 15.6″ MSI GT685 notebook.
The 17.3″ MSI GT763 is designed a lot like the 17.3″ MSI GT780DX laptop, but there is one major difference between the new GT763 and any other 17.3″ G series notebook released last year. The MSI GT763 features the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M 2GB GDDR5 discrete GPU. Previously MSI has only offered up to a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M for their G series gaming notebooks, the MSI GT780DX featured the 570M when it was released last year.
It appears that for CES 2012 the MSI crew is focused on getting their gaming notebooks outfitted with the GTX 580M above all else. The MSI GT685 notebook which got revealed yesterday showed no major signs of change outside of the new GTX 580M if you compared it’s specifications and styling with those of the 15.6″ MSI GT683DXR which was released in 2011 (with the GTX 570M).
As mentioned yesterday benchmarks from July of 2011 for the GTX 580M show the GPU does offer some of the best performance of any mobile GPU in the top PC games, so it’s okay to excuse MSI for only adding the more powerful GTX 580M with their new G series notebooks.
Update: MSI has announced the release of the MSI GT783 and MSI GT783R gaming notebooks, the two are practically the same except for the storage options.
