You really won’t want to drop this new 14-inch HP laptop computer

Glass looks really nice on electronics, Apple’s iPhone 4 and 4S is a testament to that. However with a predominantly glass design you have to worry about things like drops, just look up some photos of the iPhone 4 and 4S after they’ve been dropped –be warned shattered glass isn’t attractive.
A new premium laptop HP will soon start offering will feature a mostly glass design like Apple’s iPhone 4 and 4S. The laptop will feature scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass on its lid, display, palmrest, and touch pad areas. As you attempt to protect the new laptop you’ll hold it tighter than you’ve ever held a laptop.
The HP ENVY 14 Spectre is the name of the new glass laptop I speak of and HP plans start shipping the notebook starting on February 8, 2012 with a starting price of $1,399. However for now the new ENVY 14 Spectre laptop has stolen the show at CES 2012 as far as computers are concerned, the notebook won best in show for PCs just today.
HP’s steep pricing for the ENVY 14 Spectre is justified, for the most part, by the laptops specifications. For instance the laptop features a 14-inch HP Radiance LED display with a 1600×900 native resolution (HP claims the display on the Spectre offers very good brightness and viewing angles almost to the level of an IPS display). Another thing that’s included standard is a 128GB SSD, and HP says you’ll have the option for configuring an addition SSD in RAID that will offer even more performance for your already speedy storage.
Like the new ENVY 15 and 17 laptops HP is also including the analog volume control and Beats Audio technology with the Spectre laptop. Also like the recently released ENVY 15 and 17 laptops HP is including their own “HP Wireless Audio” technology for streaming music wirelessly to other devices from the Spectre laptop. However unlike the other recent ENVY notebooks there is no optical drive or dedicated graphics for the Spectre laptop which is designed more as a ultraportable laptop than a powerhouse media machine such as the ENVY 15 and 17 laptops.
Yes, the HP ENVY 14 Spectre will be marketed as a Ultrabook computer. However size wise it’s going to be chunkier than your typical Ultrabook, but the Spectre is thinner and lighter than laptops like the Apple Macbook Pro.
Speaking of processors HP is going to ship the Spectre with Intel’s latest Core processing chips. At this time HP says the base $1,399 Spectre laptop will include the 1.60 GHz Intel Core i5-2467M dual-core processor which comes matched with the Intel HD Graphics 3000 IGP (integrated graphics processor).
Other than the Core i5 and 128GB SSD the base Spectre also includes 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Ethernet, USB 3.0, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, Bluetooth, WiDi (Intel wireless streaming for video), and NFC (seen mostly in phones right now but this piece of technology is predominantly used to exchange payment info wirelessly). As an added bonus to ENVY 14 Spectre buyers HP is also including full copies of Adobe Photoshop (image editor) and Adobe Premiere Elements (video editor).
Right now that’s all the info I have for you, but if you want that’s all you needed to hear HP is willing to take your name down for a reserved HP ENVY 14 Spectre here on their website. Just remember that the Spectre will go on sale for the first time on February 8, 2012.
