Lenovo is really working hard to get ready for the future, products like the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid and now the IdeaPad Yoga are testaments to that fact.

With the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid Lenovo has managed to cram and Intel processor which powers the laptops Windows OS as well as a Qualcomm ARM processor that powers the laptops instant-on OS, Lenovo is the first company to have a marketable hybrid computer that offers that. And now Lenovo has unveiled the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga ultraportable laptop which features a double hinged display which can be flipped back turning the laptop into a Windows tablet PC, again something Lenovo is first to offer in a marketable computer.

Why is Lenovo showing products like the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid and IdeaPad Yoga? Well it’s because the people who buy PCs have changed their buying habits when it comes to computers. Fast, mobile computers are preferred over non-portable machines. If you’ve been paying attention to the electronics market you’ve seen that smartphone usage has shot through the roof in recent years and tablets are also starting to finally blossom after years of irrelevancy with consumers.

Computers makers like Lenovo have seen all of this and their designing their future products to attract consumers attention to their PCs and away from devices like smartphones and tablets.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Hybrid is scheduled to hit the market during the second quarter of 2012 with a starting price of $1,599. As for the laptop tablet hybrid that is the IdeaPad Yoga you can expect to see it on store shelves later this year when Microsoft Windows 8 is released, and the pricing will start at $999.99 for the Yoga.

We’ve already talked all about the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid this past week, now let’s talk about the very unique Yoga hybrid PC.

First off the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga boasts a 13.1″ HD+ (1600 x 900) capacitive multi-touch IPS display and the product weights 3.1 pounds and measures 0.67-inches thin. The Yoga is designed to be carried around with you on your daily treks in many ways. Internally the Yoga will be offering Intel’s latest Core processors, Microsoft Windows 8, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and SSD storage only that can be configured up to 256GB.

When you use the Yoga as a laptop you get a full chiclet keyboard that offers a backlight and there is a large touchpad too. According to Lenovo the palmrest on the Yoga features a leather cover which should offer enhanced luxury and comfort when typing using the Yoga’s physical keyboard.

Before seeing the Yoga computer I was one of the people who was still wondering how laptops and tablets could be merged in manner than made sense, I think Lenovo has found the best possible way. However until the Yoga is shipped and I can actually get some time alone with one I can’t fully comment on how good or bad the computer actually is, things always look good in theory but in practice/use they might not be so good.

For now all we can all do is check out the Yoga on video, like the Lenovo Vision YouTube hands-on video below which was recorded at CES 2012:
