For those that like to be first, or close to first to get everything the latest Samsung laptop computer has been added for pre-order on Amazon.com. The pre-order guarantees that when Amazon.com get’s their order of Samsung Series 5 Ultrabooks in your order will ship first. The Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook is going to be the latest premium laptop computer released by the Samsung Electronics company.
Originally unveiled in November of 2011 the Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook was the first Ultrabook computer unveiled by Samsung, but it wasn’t the first thin and light machine the company had revealed in 2011. Samsung had previously launched the Samsung Series 9 ultra-portable laptop range in early 2011 to battle Apple’s Macbook Air for the premium ultra-portable laptop market. The new Series 5 Ultrabook takes some of the things Samsung used with their Series 9 laptops and add some unique features as well.
Amazon.com currently has three different Series 5 Ultrabook computers available for consumers to pre-order. There is the $899.99 Samsung Series 5 NP530U3B-A01US which features a 13.3″ HD (1366×768) LED screen, 1.60 GHz Core i5 CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB HDD with 16GB Express Cache (SSD), Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated GPU inside a 0.58″ thick body that weights approx. 3.25 pounds.
The second option from Amazon is the Samsung Series 5 NP530U4B-A01US which is $949.99 and features a 14.0″ HD (1366×768) LED screen, 1.60 GHz Core i5 CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB HDD with 16GB Express Cache (SSD), Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated GPU packed inside a body that weights less than 4 pounds.
The third model is the Samsung Series 5 NP530U3B-A02US which is $999.99 and features a 13.3″ HD (1366×768) LED screen, 1.60 GHz Core i5 CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 128GB SSD, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated GPU in a body that is similar in size to the $899.99 13.3″ model already mentioned.
The 14-inch Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook (the $949.99 model) is a bit thicker than Ultrabooks like the ASUS Zenbook UX21 or UX31, but that’s because Samsung has managed to include an optical disc drive. The 14-inch Series 5 Ultrabook comes with a Super Multi DL DVD±R/RW drive built-in. The other laptop that is marketed as a Ultrabook that includes a optical drive is the 13.3″ Lenovo IdeaPad U300s which is thicker than most other Ultrabooks.
At this time the Series 5 Ultrabook is expected to start shipping on January 30, 2012.
