Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) latest premium laptop computer launched

Hewlett-Packard has released their latest $1k+ laptop computer the 14-inch HP ENVY 14 Spectre. The new HP ENVY 14 Spectre is designed to sit along the new group of re-designed ENVY 15 and ENVY 17 laptop computers, but it’s also designed to be quite a bit different from either of those new ENVY laptops.
Unlike other ENVY laptops the Spectre is designed with not only aluminum, but tough Corning Gorilla Glass and carbon fiber. HP’s design team has placed the Gorilla Glass over-top most of the aluminum and carbon fiber that the Spectre laptop features, the only major area on the laptop that lacks glass protection is the backlit keyboard.
Design wise the HP ENVY 14 Spectre is a class stand-out as far as premium laptops are concerned.

Technically the laptop isn’t too shabby either with many premium features included in the base $1,399.99 model. For example the base Spectre comes equipped with a 1.60 GHz Intel Core i5-2467M dual-core processor plus Intel HD Graphics 3000, a 128GB SSD for fast storage, 4GB of DDR3 1333MHz memory, and a 1600×900 resolution 14.0-inch Radiance Infinity LED-backlit display with a thin 20mm bezel.
In it’s base configuration the HP ENVY 14 Spectre is a pretty good value for the money, especially when you consider that HP claims the machine can attain more than 9 hours of battery life on a single full charge.
However just like all of HP’s other machines the Spectre can still be configured up directly from HP.com. The storage can be upgraded to two 128GB SSD’s for a total of 256GB SSD storage, the processor can be upgraded to the 1.80 GHz Intel Core i7-2677M dual-core processor (all of the Spectre’s processor options are lowered voltage chips designed to offer great battery life), and there is also the option to upgrade yourself from the PowerPoint and Outlook lacking Microsoft Office Starter 2010 to versions that offer those programs in their full versions.
