Toshiba Satellite P Series 2013 frontToshiba announced this week that a new series of Satellite brand consumer laptops would be coming to Best Buy stores on June 9th, 2013. These new Toshiba Satellite laptops will be particularly interesting because they offer good performance specifications thanks to Intel’s 4th gen. Haswell processors and discrete graphics from Nvidia’s GeForce GT 700M series.

The new exclusive laptops will fall under the Toshiba Satellite P Series of Toshiba brand notebooks. The line-up will include 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch Full HD models. Toshiba and Best Buy have been able to get a reasonable starting price of $754.99 for a new Haswell powered Satellite P Series laptop. Toshiba didn’t elaborate on what the configurations would be for the Best Buy exclusive Satellite P Series laptops in their announcement, so consumers will have to wait for the 9th to roll around.

Toshiba’s new Satellite P Series laptops are a refresh of the P Series which Toshiba has offered for some years now. This new range offers an improved design in regard to thinness and general looks. The new P Series laptops are said to offer up to a 25 percent decrease in overall thickness across the range. The 15.6- and 17.3-inch displays will feature an edge-to-edge glass design that is a part of a styling method called Skyline. Other Skyline design features include an aluminum finished body colored in Prestige Silver, rounded corners and an LED-backlit keyboard that has a frameless design.

Since we don’t have the exact model configurations for the newly refreshed Satellite P Series we can only mention up to’s. For instance storage in the new P Series laptops can go up to 1TB. For the 15.6-inch model you can have up to 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L memory and the 17.3-inch model can have up to 32GB of the same quality memory. There will be the option to have a P Series laptop equipped with the Nvidia GeForce GT 740M 2GB DDR3 discrete GPU which supports DirectX 11 and Nvidia’s Optimus Technology to name just a few things (read up on the GT 740M here).

The LED displays on both the 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models will offer Full HD 1080p resolutions standard. Also all Satellite P Series notebooks no matter the size will have USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports with Toshiba’s own Sleep Charge function; Sleep Charge allows users to charge devices like phones or MP3 players while the laptop is turned off. You will get an optical disc drive that will read and write CD’s and DVD’s. The new HDMI 1.4 standard is supported with the new Satellite P Series laptops so outputting 4K Ultra HD (3840×2160) to a 4K capable display or projector is possible with an HDMI cable (not included with the laptops).

If you’re worried about the on-board audio Toshiba promises precise rich sound for the Satellite P Series. Toshiba will be making that happen with help from a set of Harman Kardon® speakers that use Slipstream™ port technology for less audio distortion and the software side of things will be handled by DTS® Studio Sound™.

Toshiba will be launching the new Windows 8 powered Satellite P Series 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch performance laptops Sunday June 9th, 2013 at Best Buy stores and on Bestbuy.com with a starting price of $754.99. A day later on June 10th, 2013 Toshiba will launch some Satellite P Series models on their own Toshibadirect.com online store.

    Hello,

None of the new Satellite P Series laptops headed for Best Buy are going to have touchscreens. However nothing is really stopping Toshiba from adding the option later on to the line for buyers that use their own online store.

Thanks. But too bad. Might have bought one Sunday. Win8 without a touch screen is painful to use. With the touch screen it’s pretty cool, if you can remember all of the gestures.

Its way pass June 9th and still not a word from any store. I’m so sick of waiting. When can I buy one already! I’m about to lose interest and not buy a laptop all together. Maybe ill just fix up my car instead.
